Train Collides With JCB Machine At Odisha Level Crossing

**Bhubaneswar:** The Ernakulam-Howrah (22878) Antodaya Express while passing through a manned level crossing hit a JCB machine on Wednesday morning hours in Odisha’s Jajpur district.

The mishap took place at Level Crossing Gate Number 154 between Haridaspur and New Garhmadhupur when the express train hit the JCB Machine at around 10:15 am.

East Coast (ECoR) railway sources informed that the pantograph of the train engine broke along with the over head wire and masts that were damaged in this mishap though there is no injury or casualty reported. A diesel engine has been sent to bring the train.

For the passengers, only the down line has been held up temporarily, but the up and middle lines will be working as it is, ECoR stated.

The railway officials also informed that the gateman Jashobanta Swain has been suspended by Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Khurda Road for dereliction of duty, as per the primary enquiry. The DRM has ordered initiation of disciplinary proceedings along with an enquiry at officers level has been called on urgent basis.
