Train Mishap Averted In Odisha

**Cuttack:** A possible train mishap was averted near Gopalpur Balikuda station at Urali in Cuttack district today after the driver of Cuttack-Brahmapur MEMU train sighted a Red Flag on the track that had been damaged by a road crane.

As per reports, a road crane had been deployed for the construction of a foot over bridge at Gopalpur Balikuda station. The work was under progress from 2.20 PM to 4.20 PM and after completion of the work the crane had left for Cuttack.

It was during its return journey to Cuttack, the road crane had damaged few sleepers and some rails on the track. Realising imminent danger, the persons working there put a Red Flag at the site immediately.

The driver of the MEMU train after noticing the danger signal brought the train to a halt and alerted appropriate authorities. It was after 40 minutes that the operations was normalised and the train left for its destination.

Meanwhile, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Khurda Road, Brajmohan Agarwal has constituted a 4 members Enquiry Committee of railway officials and have instructed them to submit a detailed report in 48 hours.
