Transgenders Allotted 2 Prime Parking Lots To Collect Fees In Odisha Capital City

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to empower and bring the transgenders into the social mainstream, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) authorities today formally allotted two prime parking lots to the transgenders for collecting fees.

The first parking lot is from Shreeleathers Showroom to Ashoka Market stretch comprising of four parking spaces.

They are: 1) From Khadims Showroom front to Shreeleathers Showroom front (off street), 2) From Hotel Royal Mid Town to Arya Palace (off street), 3) From Ashoka Market to City Residency (off street), 4) From Royal Mid Town to Narayan Ayurved Bhawan Showroom, Ashoka Nagar (off street).
The second parking lot is from Master Canteen Square to Shriya Square.

They are: 1) Opposite Hotel Swosti Kharvel Nagar parking space (off street), 2) Epari Sadashiv Jewellers Kharvel Nagar off street parking space, 3) From Narula General Store front to PC Chand Kharvel Nagar off street parking space, 4) From Godavarish Sahitya Sansad front to Kharvel Nagar off street parking space and 5) Hotel Keshari front Kharvel Nagar on street parking space.

BMC Commissioner Prem Chandra Choudhury informed media that these parking lots have been allotted to the transgenders on an experimental basis for two months.

While the first parking lot has been allotted for Rs 2,23,000 per month due, the second lot has been allotted for Rs 1,46,089 monthly due payable to the BMC coffers. The transgenders’ body has to pay the monthly dues on the first week of the second month soon after the completion of the first month of taking over charge of the respective parking lots, a BMC press communiqué stated.

BMC Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Shrimant Mishra in the press communiqué has stated that the transgenders’ body has already deposited Rs 7,380 towards security amount.
