Bhubaneswar: In a shocking incident, transgenders (kinnars) allegedly cheated and robbed a family claiming to be faith healers. This incident took place at Tukala village under Khariar police station in Nuapada district, on Wednesday.
According to allegations made by local businessman Raj Kumar Khemka, a group of 3-4 transgenders, claiming to be faith healers, cheated and robbed his family.
The transgenders arrived at Khemka’s residence in a white car, seeking alms from women in the family and later inquired about the family’s well-being. After gaining the family’s trust, they offered to perform a ritual to cure the ailing health of the eldest daughter-in-law, Sonia. When the family agreed, they asked to leave the place except Sonia. While the ritual was being performed, they snatched the gold chain from Sonia’s neck and fled the scene in their car.
Khemka has filed a complaint with Khariar police.
Based on the complaint, police are examining the footage and questioning residents to identify the accused.
