Balangir: The elephant calf, which had accidentally fallen into a well in Latasahada village under Muribahal forest range of Balangir district, was rescued after two hours of intense effort.

According to reports, a team of officials from the Fire Department, Forest, and Police Departments sprang into action and pulled the jumbo out of the well using a JCB machine. The elephant was later released into the nearby forest, unharmed.

It may be mentioned that this is not an isolated incident. A baby elephant had fallen into an abandoned well in the same village on Thursday morning. Locals informed the forest department, and officials, along with fire service personnel, arrived at the scene to initiate rescue operations. After an hour-long effort, the elephant calf was rescued.
