Bhubaneswar: A tribal woman is suspected to have succumbed to heatstroke in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Karmi Hembrum (62), a native of Shyamsundar village under Rairangpur Rural police limits in the district.
According to reports, Karmi had gone to rear goats in the forenoon and later some villagers spotted her lying dead under a tree.
A poor woman, Karmi had no family member so the villagers informed the matter to the police. Soon, a team from Rairangpur Rural police station reached the village and sent her body for autopsy at the sub-divisional hospital.
The police registered a case of unnatural death and started an investigation. According to the police, the reason behind Karmi’s death would only be ascertained after receiving her post-mortem report. On the other hand, villagers claimed that she died due to sunstroke.
