Tributes To India’s Youngest Martyr Baji Rout On His Death Anniversary

Dhenkanal: Youngest Indian martyr Baji Rout was paid tributes on his death anniversary today by people of his native district Dhenkanal, various dignitaries and the district administration.

On this day in 1938, Rout, a 12-year-old boat boy, was shot by British police when he refused to ferry them across the Brahmani River at Nilakanthapur Ghat in Bhuban of Dhenkanal district.

Paying tributes to Rout, Dhenkanal MP Mahesh Sahoo, Collector Bhumesh Chandra Behera, and others decorated his statue situated at Saheed Minar on Baji Chowk with garlands. He was also given artillery salutation at this native village Nilakanthapur.
