Trio Held For Stealing ACs

Bhubaneswar: Three individuals were arrested for allegedly stealing air conditioners (ACs) and equipment from a BSNL tower located in Patrapara under Kutra police limits in Sundargarh District, on Wednesday.

The arrested suspects have been identified as Manas Kumar Mohanty (33), Sanjaya Prasad (34), and Mahaveer Salem (50), all residents of Nuapada, Mahesdihi.

As per the reports, the theft was discovered after a BSNL employee Sina Bapi Mandal, who resides in the company’s quarters in Sundargarh, lodged a complaint on January 14.

Mandal reported that two window ACs, 90 meters of feeder cable and other communication equipment had been stolen from the tower on January 13 by unidentified culprits.

Following the complaint, Sundargarh police initiated an investigation. The officers arrested the three suspects and seized an iron rack, two damaged window ACs and 6 kilograms of copper wire cables.

Police officials have stated that further investigation is underway to determine whether the accused were involved in similar thefts in the region.
