Bhubaneswar: A day after police apprehended a minor boy on suspicion of murdering a woman and her minor daughter at Raimani village in Bhadrak district, police recovered the body of an elderly woman from the crime scene.

With the recovery of the third body, the minor boy has been accused of committing three murders.

The deceased elderly woman has been identified as the accused minor boy’s grandmother Sumati Munda.

During police interrogation, the accused confessed to have murdered the trio.

According to sources, police recovered the bodies of Mini Munda (7) and her mother Sukanti Munda (35) of Ganijang Hasinpur Adivasi sahi under Bhadrak rural police station on Wednesday.

According to reports, the dead body of Sukanti Munda was found in Baniagudi forest while her daughter’s body was found lying under a bridge. Locals found the minor boy sitting next to the dead body of Sukanti.

During interrogation, the minor boy confessed to having raped the woman and hacked her to death. As the woman’s daughter was the sole witness to the incident, he eliminated her by hacking.

Locals found the minor boy sitting next to the body of Sukanti and caught him while he was trying to flee the scene before handing him over to police.

Based on the statement of the accused, police seized the body of Sumati on Thursday and sent it for post-mortem.

As Sumati denied giving him cash, the accused reportedly strangled her to death with the help of a saree, told the accused to the police.

The accused will be sent for medical examination before being forwarded to court. The exact reason behind the death of three persons can be ascertained after post-mortem reports come, said police.
