Sambalpur: A mini truck driver was charred to death near Bada Kundesara on National Highway No 53 in Odisha’s Sambalpur district when his vehicle caught fire after colliding head-on with a 14-wheeler coal-laden truck on Wednesday. The helper of the truck is also reported to be critically injured.
According to reports, the accident occurred under Jamankira police limits of Sambalpur district.
While the deceased driver has been identified as Ramji from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, the identity of the helper is yet to be ascertained.
On being informed, police and Fire Services personnel reached the spot and doused the fire. However, the mini truck was almost reduced to ashes following the accident. The 14-wheeler truck also overturned after the accident.
The police have launched an investigation into the matter.
