Keonjhar: A truck driver was charred to death when his iron sheet-laden vehicle rammed against another truck in front near Meeuldiha village under Odisha’s Keonjhar Sadar police limits on National Highway No. 49 on Friday morning.
According to reports, the incident occurred at 4.00 am on Friday. Both the trucks were going towards Kolkata when one of them hit another from the rear. The vehicle coming from behind caught fire due to the impact of the fire. The driver of the burning truck was trapped inside the vehicle leading to his death.
On being informed, Keonjhar Sadar police and Fire Services personnel reached the spot and rescued the charred driver. He was rushed to a local medical facility but succumbed to his burn injuries on the way.
The police have launched an investigation to ascertain the event that led to the accident.
