Puri: A truck driver and helper have been arrested in Kakatpur area of Puri district for looting wheat, pulses, etc. worth Rs 18,08,119 from a Chattisgarh-based businessman.
Reportedly on August 18, a businessman named Vikas Agarwal of Bhatapara under Baloda Bazar district in Chhattisgarh had sent two trucks of wheat, pulses, etc to another businessman in Bhubaneswar.
As the trucks did not reach the destination and the vehicle owner and drivers were also not reachable even after three days, Agarwal lodged a complaint in this regard at Bhatapara Rural Police Station.
During the investigation, Bhatapara Police with the help of Kakatpur Police seized the trucks and arrested the driver and helper. It was revealed that they had changed the number plates and forged the papers of the trucks and sold the loot items elsewhere.
Bhatapara Police will be taking the two accused on transit remand and continue the investigation with the help of Kakatpur Police to nab others involved in this loot.
