Baripada/Balasore: Hours after a baby elephant was rescued from an unused well in Jamasula forest under Rasagobindapur range in Mayurbhanj district on Sunday, a tusker was seen attacking a passenger bus, the video of which has gone viral.
As per sources, the bus named Maa Tarini was on its way from Olmara to Balasore when it was attacked by the lone tusker, who had got separated from its herd.
The tusker attacked the bus from the rear and pushed it with its trunk for some metres. However, the driver sped up and fled the spot. The bus and the passengers survived a major accident due to the driver’s presence of mind.
On Saturday night, a baby elephant fell into an unused well in Jamasula forest under Rasagobindapur range in Mayurbhanj district. The elephant was unhurt as the well was barely 5 feet deep. The forest department personnel were unable to rescue it because the calf was guarded by a herd of tuskers.
A team of fire service personnel filled the well with water after which the baby elephant rose up and was helped out by its family. After the rescue, the herd of elephants took the baby to the forest.
Shortly afterward, the scene of a tusker attacking a bus and pushing it with its trunk on the road near Rasagobindapur is now going viral.
