**Bhubaneswar:** A tusker was spotted at the Horticulture farm of OUAT in Ghatikia on the outskirts of the capital city on Thursday. It is suspected that the jumbo have strayed into the farm from the nearby Chandaka forest here.
This incident has created panic among the locals as the animal has allegedly damaged property the previous night. After getting information, senior officials of the Forest department reached the spot to take stock of the situation.
Forest Ranger of Chandaka Wildlife Division, Ashok Kumar Biswal informed that 12 forest officials are deployed to guard the elephant and will ward it off in the evening.
Assistant Conservator of Forest, Chandaka-Dampara Wildlife Sanctuary, Himansu Sekhar Mohanty has informed that the tusker is presently inside the research garden of QUAT which is a vast area, including a forest area.
The officials have confined it to the garden for now to avoid damage to public property and will drive it out towards the forest in the evening.
