Angul: An elephant reportedly died after it came in contact with a live wire trap laid by a farmer to protect his crops at Talagarh village in Bantala block of Angul district on Friday.
Reportedly, the live wire trap had been laid by Joginath Pradhan (59) of the village. The elephant had visited his farm to eat the crops when it came in contact with the wire and died.
Forest official Madhab Chandra Nayak informed that Joginath has been arrested in this connection. He further said that the elephant carcass will be buried after post-mortem.
