Keonjhar: A 48-year-old man was killed in after he was attacked by a tusker on Saturday in Barkhanda forest under Maidankel panchayat under Sadar Forest Range of Keonjhar district.
The deceased has been identified as Brajamohan Behera of Jamunalia village of Kantiapada panchayat under Turumunga police limits in Keonjhar district.
According to reports, at around 4 PM today few people had gone to watch a tusker that has strayed away from its herd and was rampaging in the Barakhanda forest.
All of a sudden the tusker charged toward the crowd. In the melee, Brajamohan fell down. The tusker lifted him with its trunk and banged him on the ground.
Brajamohan was rescued by Forest department staff in critical condition and rushed to the district headquarters hospital here.
However, he was declared dead by the attending doctors at the hospital.
