Dhenkanal: An elderly woman was killed after being trampled by a tusker in the Kalanda village under Hindol forest range in Dhenkanal on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Chhabi Dehuri (60), a resident of Kalanda village.
The incident occurred when Dehuri went to collect mangoes from his orchard during a thunderstorm.
Upon being informed, Forest officials reached the scene and initiated a preliminary investigation.
The incident has sparked discontent among locals, who are increasingly frustrated with the Forest officials’ response to such incidents, which has been limited to providing compensation.
