Angul: Two women from the Bantala village of Odisha’s Angul district were killed by a tusker while another woman was severely injured on Monday morning when they had gone to a nearby jungle to collect mangoes.
According to the reports, Muli Pradhan (50) and Gauri Raul of Bantala village of Angul block went to the mango garden near the village this morning to collect mangoes. However, while she was picking mangoes, a tusker arrived on the scene and attacked Muli Pradhan. Muli died on the spot as the elephant trampled her. Gauri was also seriously injured in the elephant attack and admitted to the Angul District General Hospital for treatment. She breathed her last during treatment there.
It is worth mentioning here that 10 people have lost their lives in elephant attacks in Angul block in four months.
Ram Sahu (65) of Kantmegha village in Angul block, Bantla forest area had gone to defecate near the mango garden on April 18 at around 5:30 in the morning. However, an elephant that was present there before, hit him with its trunk on Ram’s ear and left. He too died on the spot.
