Tusker’s Carcass Found In Sambalpur Forest

Sambalpur: Close on the heels of the death of an elephant in Sundargarh district on Saturday, another pachyderm was electrocuted in the Sadar forest range in Sambalpur district on Sunday morning. According to reports, villagers spotted the carcass of a tusker from near Khasupali of Lavdera Bolbanga Reserve Forest under Sadar Range. The pachyderm is said to have died due to electrocution.

Forest Department officials are investigating into the incident.

The incident of elephant deaths is not something new in Sambalpur district. Similar incidents have come occurred in the district earlier too. In 2024, an elephant died under the Yuyumura Range and before that an elephant died in the Redhakhol forest range.
