Bhubaneswar: The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on Thursday experienced light to moderate rainfall under the influence of a western disturbance.
Meanwhile, the regional centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning of light to moderate rain with thundershowers and lightning in 14 districts of Odisha on Thursday.
Under the influence of western disturbance, 10 Odisha districts will experience light rainfall activities.
As per the prediction by the Regional Meteorological Department, Bhubaneswar, some places in as many as 10 districts like Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Boudh, Sonepur, Bolangir, Angul and Deogarh may witness light to moderate rainfall today.
Moreover, IMD has issued a yellow warning to 14 districts which will experience light to moderate rain with thundershowers very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Nuapada, Boudh, Angul, Keonjhar, Cuttack, Khurda, Dhenkanal and Deogarh.
Meanwhile, the IMD has warned that the day temperature is likely to increase by 3 to 4 degrees with the effect of dry air from the west and north-west direction after April 13. However, there is no possibility of significant change in temperature till April 12.
Cloudy skies, strong winds, and light rain in parts of Odisha kept the mercury in check on Thursday, even as the weather department warned return of heat wave conditions with temperature leaping to the 40-degree Celsius mark after April 13.
