**Bhubaneswar: ** In order to check the increasing bank ATM loots, the Cuttack-Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police on Tuesday advised the banks to upgrade the security arrangements at their respective branches and ATM kiosks.
The Twin City police held a meeting here which was attended by all the Inspectors-In-Charge (IIC) of all police stations in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on what measures to be taken to curb the rising bank and ATM loots in the city.
“We will increase our night patrolling, especially at places located on the city outskirts. All police stations were asked to take it seriously and keep a strict vigil at ATMs which are unguarded,” Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said to reporters after the meeting.
The DCP also informed that they will hold a meeting with the bankers and money deposit agencies over measures to be taken how to strengthen security at ATM counters.
Earlier, the city police had said that if banks and ATMs were found without security personnel, strong action will be taken against the bank authorities.
It may be recalled here that unidentified burglars looted three ATMs of Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and the SBI in Bhadrak and decamped with cash to the tune of Rs 30 lakh on night of November 3.
Similarly, ATMs in Matha Sahi and Remuna were robbed of cash worth Rs 59 lakh. Police are still trying to nab the culprits involved in the incident.
