Bhubaneswar: Two anacondas died in Nandankanan Zoo in two consecutive days. While one anaconda died on Wednesday, another yellow anaconda died late last night.
The anaconda, aged about 14 months, was housed in enclosure No. 65 in the reptile department of the zoo.
While the cause of death of both the anacondas remains unclear, Nandankanan authorities said that the exact cause will be known after they receive the post-mortem reports of the reptiles. After the death of two anacondas in a row, the number of anacondas in Nandankanan Zoo has been reduced to 8.
It is worth mentioning here that the anaconda that died on Wednesday morning was housed in enclosure No. 46. The reptile was ailing for a few days and had stopped food intake.
