Bhubaneswar: Two persons were arrested allegedly for fleeing after poaching a deer at Puusottampur village under Betanoti Range in Mayurbhanj district, on Monday.

According to sources, two miscreants reportedly chased a deer and killed the animal with bows and arrows. Later, they decamped with the venison to sell it.

It is learnt that the deer strayed into Maheswarpur Patas forest near Purusottampur village in search of food. Finding it alone, two miscreants chased the animal and killed it with bows and arrows. Later, the poachers fled with venison to sell it.

Meanwhile, the video of miscreants poaching the animal has gone viral on social media.

After getting the information, forest officials and police launched a manhunt and arrested the accused under the Wildlife Protection Act 1972.
