Malkangiri: The Malkangiri police have arrested two accused involved in the murder of web journalist C Naresh, who was brutally attacked on July 12, 2025, near Muruliguda village under Motu police limits in the district.
The accused, identified as Sukumar Ray (25) and Konkan Jordar (21), both residents of Malkangiri district, were arrested from Hyderabad.
According to Superintendent of Police Vinod Patil, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was formed to crack the case, which included Additional SP Rashmi Ranjan Senapati, DSP R Pradhan, and other officers. The SIT collected incriminating evidence from the crime scene with the help of a scientific team and the State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL).
The investigation revealed that the accused had tried to evade arrest and fled to Hyderabad, where they were eventually tracked down and apprehended by a police team based on technical and local intelligence. The police also recovered the vehicle used by the victim and his friends, as well as the motorcycle used by the accused during the crime.
The accused will be produced in court after following due legal procedures and will be taken on remand for further interrogation and investigation, the SP said. The police have sufficient evidence to support their case against the accused.
