Sambalpur: Two BJP workers were killed in a fatal car-truck collision on the Sambalpur-Bargarh National Highway late Saturday night. The deceased were Devendra Nayak and Muralidhar Chhuria.
The incident occurred near the Kantapali overbridge when a speeding truck hit the car carrying the duo. The car overturned after being hit by the truck. Devendra, the Gosala mandal president, and Muralidhar, a former Sarpanch, had returned to Sambalpur by train from Bhubaneswar and were heading to their village when the accident took place.
Four others, including the driver, sustained injuries in the accident and are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital. The police have seized the truck and detained its driver for further investigation.
