Keonjhar: Two brothers were axed to death at Kasia village in Malada gram panchayat under Jumpura block of Keonjhar district on Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Samara Nayak (60) and his brother Karamu Nayak (55).
Reportedly, Samara was first attacked with an axe by a fellow villager Udhab Nayak in an inebriated condition. Karamu rushed for rescue of his brother but he also sustained severe injuries in the axe attack.
While Samara died on the spot, Karamu was first rushed to Jumpura hospital and later shifted to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital (DHH), where he breathed his last.
Meanwhile, Udhab has been arrested and subjected to interrogation to ascertain motive of the crime.
