Nayagarh: Two cousins, aged 11 and 12 years, drowned to death while taking bath in a pond at Abhimanpur village under Itamati police limits in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Monday.
According to reports, the two cousins went to bathe in a village pond at around 10.00 am today. However, their legs slipped and both brothers drowned in the pond. Hearing their cries for help, local villagers rushed to rescue them.
After they were rescued, the two victims were taken to the Nayagarh District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) but the doctors there declared them ‘brought dead’.
Ob being informed, the local police sent the bodies for post-mortem and started an investigation into the unnatural deaths.
Meanwhile, a pall of gloom descended on Abhimanpur and adjoining regions as the news of the two brothers spread in the area.
