Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police detained two persons on Thursday who were allegedly involved in producing counterfeit engine oil in Bhubaneswar.
Acting on a tip-off, the Badagada police, led by Inspector-In-Charge (IIC) Trupti Ranjan Nayak, raided a factory in Rajarani Colony and sealed the premises on Wednesday. The factory workers attempted to flee when they saw the police but were caught.
Inside the warehouse, the police discovered large quantities of lubricants, empty branded containers, stickers, and packaging materials. They also found counterfeit spare parts for well-known two-wheeler brands like Honda and TVS.
During questioning, the detained persons admitted their involvement but claimed they were unaware of the source of the raw materials or the distribution network. They explained that only the owner had that information, but the owner is currently absconding.
During the raid, the police seized large quantities of counterfeit engine oil, lubricants, and counterfeit spare parts for motorcycles and scooters. The estimated market value of the seized items is over Rs 12 lakh.
