Puri: Tragedy struck a religious congregation of the Nigamananda sect in Puri as two devotees lost their lives after collapsing during the event.
According to reports, the two devotees were rushed to the district headquarters hospital after their health condition suddenly deteriorated but were declared dead upon arrival by the doctors at the hospital.
Initial investigations suggest that both devotees suffered heart attacks. One of the deceased hailed from Midnapore in West Bengal, while the other was a resident of Cuttack in Odisha.
It is suspected that the tragic incident might have been caused by overcrowding at the event, as a large number of devotees had gathered.
The authorities are looking into the circumstances surrounding the deaths to ascertain if the gathering’s conditions contributed to the tragedy. Meanwhile, the incident has raised concerns about crowd management and safety measures at such large-scale religious events.
