Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, two persons were killed after a mango-laden pick-up van overturned at a gorge near Kanakata under Patrapada block in Ganjm district on Thursday.
Kureshu Badtya, Sudhanshu Sahu and another person from Khariaguda under Jarada police station of Ganjam district went to Gajapati to bring mango for business. They returned to Ganjam in the evening after loading the mango in a pickup truck.
At around 9:30 pm, the pick-up van lost its control and overturned at the Kankata ghat in Patrapada block.
Locals rescued Kuresh and another person and admitted them to Turibudi Primary Health Centre where doctors declared Kureshu dead. Another person is undergoing treatment in a critical condition.
On the other hand, Sudhanshu’s body has been taken out of the vehicle.
Police launched an investigation after seizing the bodies for post-mortem.
