Sambalpur: The bodies of two elephants were recovered from Patara forest near Tileimal village under Kuchinda block of Sambalpur district on Thursday. One of them is a female elephant.
Reportedly, the elephants had consumed a paddy crop in the village yesterday. As pesticides had been sprayed on the crop, it is believed that the elephants died due to poisoning. However, the actual cause of their death is yet to be known.
Their bodies were found by the villagers today morning. On getting information, forest department officials reached the village and initiated a probe.
