Bhubaneswar: In a joint inter-state operation, Odisha and Chhattisgarh police, along with CRPF personnel, neutralized two female Maoist cadres in the border areas of Odisha’s Nuapada and Chhattisgarh’s Gariabandh district.

The operation led to the recovery of a significant cache of firearms, ammunition, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs), including one self-loading rifle (SLR).

According to an official press release from the Odisha Police, the operation was launched following intelligence inputs about the presence of a large number of Maoists in the Kularighat reserve forest of Chhattisgarh, located just 5 kilometers from the Odisha border.

Acting on this information, a coordinated effort involving Odisha’s Special Operations Group (SOG), the E-30 force of Chhattisgarh Police, and CRPF personnel was initiated.

The exchange of fire between the security forces and the Maoists began early in the morning and continued for several hours. As a result, two female Maoist cadres were killed, and several weapons and explosives were seized.

A massive search operation is currently underway in the area to ensure the complete elimination of Maoist presence.

The Anti-Naxal operation underscores the collaborative efforts between the two states to tackle Maoist activities in the region. Security forces remain on high alert as the operation continues.
