Bhubaneswar: A Special Judge, Vigilance Court has convicted two former officials, Ramesh Chandra Nayak, ex-headmaster of Tuakula NPS, and Dhruba Charan Majhi, ex-President of VEC, Tuakula NPS, for misappropriating government funds meant for the construction of a new primary school building in Tuakula in Kandhamal district.
Nayak and Majhi have been sentenced to four years of rigorous imprisonment and fined Rs 20,000 each. They have been sent to jail to serve their sentence.
According to a release issued by Odisha, Nayak and Majhi were charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance U/s 13(2) r/w 13(1)(c)(d) PC Act,1988/409/120-B IPC, for misappropriation of government fund without executing the construction work of new primary school building at Tuakula
Meanwhile, the Odisha Vigilance has initiated action to dismiss Ramesh Chandra Nayak from service following his conviction.
