Cuttack: A tragic incident occurred on Wednesday afternoon at Damdamani Dam under Choudwar police station in Cuttack district. Two friends, Shatik Satpathy and Swayam Das, drowned while taking a bath. They were second-year students at Stewart College in Cuttack.
According to reports, five friends visited Damdamani today, and three of them decided to take a dip in the dam. While swimming, Shatik and Swayam slipped into deep water and drowned. Locals rescued one of their friends after hearing their screams. But they could not save the other two.
Local people immediately informed the Tangi-Chaudwar Fire Department, who rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies from the water body. The fire department personnel handed over the bodies to the police, who seized them for further investigation and sent them to SCB Medical College for autopsy.
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
