Baripada: A Special POCSO Court here in Mayurbhanj district on Monday sentenced two men to rigorous life imprisonment for the rape of a 13-year-old girl in 2021.
The convicted persons, Samaya Murmu (33) and Matu Murmu (33), were also fined ₹50,000 each by the court .
In addition to the sentence, the court directed the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) to provide a compensation of ₹6 lakh to the survivor for her rehabilitation.
The court delivered the judgment after a thorough examination of the victim’s testimony, statements from 22 witnesses, and the medical report.
The horrific incident occurred on April 6, 2021, when the two men assaulted the minor while she was in an open field near her village. A case was promptly registered at the Udala Police Station based on a complaint from the victim’s family, leading to the swift arrest of both accused.
