**Kendrapada: ** In a tragic accident in Mugapani village of Rajnagar block of Kendrapada district, the two daughters of Sushant Muduli, Sujata (10) and Sasmita (13) drowned to death in a nearby pond earlier today.
The girls had gone to catch fish in the pond adjacent to their house when the tragedy struck.
According to witnesses, the elder sister Suchitra in response to the alarms raised by some children playing nearby plunged into the pond to save them.
But her efforts were in vain as she could only watch her sisters drown to death.
Soonafter, Suchitra was herself rescued and admitted to Rajnagar Primary Health Centre, where she is still battling for her life, while the bodies of her sisters have been sent for post mortem.
