Berhampur: Digapahandi police arrested two for allegedly kidnapping a Class VII girl student and circulating her nude photos and video on social media.
The accused, identified as Padman Nayak and G. Jagannath Dora, were taken into custody on Monday, following a complaint lodged by the victim’s father. The police have registered a case under relevant sections Code (IPC) and produced the accused before the Berhampur POCSO court on Monday. The court, however, rejected their bail pleas.
“Another youth is suspected to be involved in this incident and further investigation is underway to nab him,” said IIC (Investigating Officer) of Digapahandi Police Station.
According to reports, the incident occurred on January 27, when the accused abducted the minor girl from her school during lunch break, took her to a secluded spot, and forced her to strip. The accused individuals reportedly recorded nude videos and photos of the victim, which were later used to blackmail her. When the girl refused to comply with their demands, the accused circulated the explicit content on social media, leaving the victim traumatized.
The victim’s father complained to Digapahandi police, following which the accused were arrested and produced.
