Jharsuguda: A person sustained bullet injuries after two youths opened fire at him last night, at Banaharpali police limits in Jharsuguda district.
The injured has been identified as Manoj Barik of Shanti Nagar while the accused has been identified as MD Sonu of Bandhabahal area and his associate Aswini Rana.
Meanwhile, police arrested the accused duo and seized a country gun, a 9-MM pistol and 15 live bullets from them.
As per the report, Manoj’s friend Siba Sagar had taken money from Sonu. Sonu had threatened Siba with his life for failing to repay his money. Manoj intervened in the matter and tried to pacify Sonu. An irate Sonu, instead of being calm, opened fire at Siba and fled the scene.
Sonu was rushed to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research where he is currently undergoing treatment.
Soon after the incident, police launched a manhunt for Sonu and arrested him and his aide.
