Bhubaneswar: The Special Crime Unit of Commissionerate Police arrested two persons on charges of smuggling brown sugar and seized 515 grams of brown sugar worth approximately Rs 50 lakh from the duo. The operation was carried out near Khandagiri on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.
Police Commissioner Suresh Devadutta Singh revealed that two accused, Sahil Mohammad and Jahangir Mohammad, both from Balasore, were reportedly chalking out plans to transport the drugs when they were caught. The Special Crime Unit and Infocity Police Station have conducted raids and arrested the duo.
Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation into the matter, probing the source of the brown sugar and potential links to larger trafficking networks. In addition to the contraband, police also seized Rs 3,000 in cash, a red Honda Activa (Regd. No. OD 01 AW 4291) and two mobile phones from the accused.
The arrested individuals were taken into custody and are currently being interrogated to uncover further details about their operations and connections.

The Commissionerate police’s crime unit also carried out raids at various small shops in the Infocity Police station area and seized huge quantities of Ganja, Ganja filled cigarettes and other incriminating materials on Wednesday.
