Balasore: Soro Police seized a mini truck carrying a large number of cattle near Barikpur haat at Soro in Balasore district and foiled an attempt to smuggle them to West Bengal.
According to sources, the police on a tip-off, intercepted the truck near Barikpur haat and found cattle cramped in a container. The animals were being transported in inhumane conditions. The rescued cattle have been shifted to a nearby cow shelter. The raid was conducted under the supervision of Soro Police Inspector Prabhanshu Mishra.
Meanwhile, locals alleged that cattle smuggling is a rampant practice in Balasore.
