Two Held With Brown Sugar, Illegal Arms In Cuttack

Cuttack: A joint team of the Special Task Force (STF) of Odisha Crime Branch and Cuttack Police nabbed two drug peddlers at Tangi area in Cuttack district on Friday night.

Acting on a tip-off, the team intercepted a four-wheeler on Cuttack-Jajpur road and rounded up the accused Ananta Sahoo alias Budia and Kailash Chandra Sahoo alias Illu.

Brown sugar weighing 56 gms, one 9 MM automatic pistol, Magazine with four rounds of live ammunition and other incriminating materials were seized from their possession. A case under section 21(b) of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and section 25(1) of Arms Act has been registered against them at Tangi Police Station.

It is worthwhile to mention that, during the year 2020 till date, STF has conducted raids at various places in Cuttack, Puri, Balasore, Angul, Khurda, Pipili, Dhenkanal, Bhubaneswar and Bhadrak area and detected 13 (Thirteen) cases against drug peddlers.

STF has arrested 26 accused persons and also seized a total of 1 Kg 335 grams of Brown Sugar, Opium (Aphima) 326.45 grams, cash over Rs 13,21,000, one Automatic Pistol, Magazine, 4 rounds of live ammunition, one Maruti Car, eight Motor Bikes, bank accounts, and other incriminating materials.
