Balasore: In a shocking incident, two persons were injured in an acid attack by a jeweller at Tudigadia Bazaar under Khaira police limits in Balasore district on Tuesday.
The condition of one of the victims, Ramachandra Padhi, is reported to be critical, and he has been transferred to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack.
The injured persons have been identified as Ramachandra Padhi (40) and Dambarudhar Mallick (50), both residents of Dalang village.
According to reports, Ramachandra, Dambarudhar, and a few others were conversing near Ashok Sahu’s jewellery shop in Tudigadia Bazaar when Ashok approached them, upset over the noise. An argument ensued between Ashok and the group.
Following the altercation, Ashok reportedly returned to his shop, retrieved acid, and threw it at Ramachandra and others. T
he acid splashed onto Ramachandra’s face, hands, and stomach, leaving him seriously injured, while Dambarudhar sustained burns on his hands. After the attack, Ashok closed his shop and fled the scene.
Both injured men were initially taken to the Soro Community Health Centre (CHC) for treatment.
Due to the severity of Ramachandra’s injuries, he was subsequently transferred to SCB Medical College & Hospital in Cuttack.
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
