Two Kashmiri Youths Debunk Media Claim, Say “We Are Sardars, Not Terrorists”

**Bhubaneswar**: I am a sardar and I am not a terrorist.

I along with my friend came to Bhubaneswar for job purpose and while we are searching rooms in the city some media people spotted us and had clicked our photos then branded us as terrorists, said Saranpreet Singh Sodi, a youth from Kashmir, who was questioned by the cops here over the allegation.

“Some media persons took our photos and termed us as terrorist without any verification which really hurts us now and our family,” Sodi complained by saying they would move High Court if required.

Aljit Singh, who accompanied Sodi, has expressed shock over the news by saying his family members might commit suicide after hearing this news as they will be heartbroken after knowing about this incident.

“We will lodge police complaints against the accused who had branded us as anti-nationals despite being Indians,” Singh threatened.

He also said ‘we can’t tolerate this’.

It may be recalled here that the police on Sunday night had detained the duo after some media reports stated that these two youths have terror links.

The cops released the duo after questioning them for around 4 hours at Saheed Nagar police station in the city.

“We have checked all of their documents and found that they came to Bhubaneswar in search of jobs and nothing beyond that,” said Kishore Chandra Mund, IIC of Saheed Nagar police station.
