Boudh: Two persons were killed and three are said to be critically injured in a succession of road accidents involving an SUV and five motorcycles in Odisha’s Boudh district on Thursday morning.
According to reports, the accident occurred at Bahira Chhak when an SUV bearing (OD03Q7779) was on the way to Bolangir from Bhubaneswar from Bolangir and crashed into five motorcycles before ramming a roadside hotel.
The impact of the collisions was such that the SUV as well as the motorcycles were badly mangled.
A Panchayat Executive Officer (PEO), who was riding one of the five bikes, died on the spot. The PEO was identified as Gobnida Sahu, a resident of Ainlapali.
Another person who was standing at the hotel also died in the mishap.
Soon after the tragic incident, tension prevailed in the area. An irate mob burnt tyres on National Highway 57 protesting the deaths and seeking compensation.
