Paralakhemundi: In a tragic incident, two young men were killed after the motorcycle on which they were astride fell off a bridge into a swamp near Dumba Park at R Udaygiri in Gajapati district on Tuesday.
The deceased youths have been identified as Mantu Pal and Tukuna Singh of Chheligada village under the R Udaygiri block of Gajapati district.
According to reports, Mantu and Tukuna who work outside the state, had come on a visit to their village a few days back. The two friends had gone out on some work today.
While they were returning, their bike hit the guard wall of a bridge near Dumba Park in R Udaygiri and the duo fell into a swamp around 15 feet below.
On the impact of the fall, one of them died on the spot while the other was seriously injured. They were rushed by the locals to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Chandragiri. However, they were declared dead by the attending doctors.
On being informed police have seized the bodies for post-mortem and have launched an investigation into the matter.
