Two Killed As Bus Hits Bike In Jharsuguda

Bhubaneswar: A tragic road accident claimed the lives of two persons in Jharsuguda district on Friday evening. A private passenger bus hit a bike with two riders at Siriapali Chack under Kolabira police station.

The deceased have been identified as Manoj Meher and Sushant Meher from Kardola village near Chipilima under Burla police station in Sambalpur district. They were reportedly out on a bike for some work when the accident occurred.

According to eyewitnesses, the private bus ‘Jayamatadi’ was overtaking a truck when it lost control and hit the bike. One of the riders died on the spot, while the other succumbed to injuries at the Jharsuguda district headquarters hospital.

The Kolabira police station reached the spot after receiving information about the accident. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway. The bodies will be handed over to the family members after post-mortem examination.

Locals have demanded action against the bus driver and compensation. The police have started an investigation.
