Bhawanipatna: Two persons riding a scooter were killed after a car collided with their vehicle near Kebidi village junction on the Biju Expressway under Dharmagarh police station limits in Kalahandi district on Monday.
According to reports, the deceased have been identified as Lingaraj Durga and Lalit Tandi, both residents of Thantgaon village under Dharmagarh police station. The accident occurred when the two were travelling from their native village Thantgaon to Dharmagarh on a scooter.
Lingaraj Durga died on the spot due to the impact of the collision, while his friend Lalit Tandi sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital at Bhawanipatna. However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.
Following the incident, local residents got agitated at the accident site, alleging rash driving and demanded strict action.
On being informed, Dharmagarh police rushed to the spot, detained the driver of the car involved in the accident, and initiated steps to pacify the agitating locals.
Further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
