Cuttack: Two people died on the spot and five people sustained injuries when a speeding car crashed at the rear of a truck near the Gopalpur Street of the National Highway 16 under Kuakhia police station limits in Jajpur district on Saturday morning.
The injured as well as the dead are from the Ersma block in Jagatsinghpur district. According to information, seven people from Ersma area were travelling by car for the darshan of Goddess Tarini in Keonjhar this morning when the vehicle hit the rear of a truck parked on the side of the road.
On being informed, Kuakhia police reached the spot and rescued the injured. While the bodies of the dead were sent for post-mortem, the injured were admitted to Dharmachaya hospital. Later, the injured were discharged from the hospital after first-aid treatment. The Kuakhia police started an investigation into the accident. Preliminary reports said that dense fog had reduced visibility leading to the accident.
