Two Labourers Killed Due To Lightning Strike In Jharsuguda

Bhubaneswar: Two labourers lost their lives in a lightning strike incident in Kalibahal village under Kolabira block in Jharsuguda district on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Dukhbandhu Majhi, 25, and Bira Kisan, 45, both residents of Kalibahal village.

According to reports, the duo was walking on the road during heavy rainfall around 3 pm when they sought shelter under a nearby tree. Unfortunately, the tree attracted a lightning strike, seriously injuring both men. They were rescued and rushed to the district headquarters hospital, where the doctor declared them dead upon arrival.

The Kolabira police have registered a case of unnatural death. The bodies have been sent for a post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death.
