Malkangiri: Two Maoist dumps were busted during an anti-naxal operation by BSF in Bejangiwada Reserve Forest of Kurumanur panchayat under Kalimela police limits in Malkangiri district on Thursday.
Based on specific information, the BSF troops from 142 Bn launched an operation and successfully unearthed two dumps in the dense forest. The dumps were strategically hidden in the dense jungle and rock cavities, a statement issued by the police said.
The forces seized a huge cache of explosives and other materials from the forest.
The recovered items include improvised grenades, detonators, Cordtex wire, gelatin sticks, safety fuse, and other Maoist-related paraphernalia.
The Maoist articles recovered from both the Maoist dump are:-
1) Two 0.22 Local Guns(Desi)
2) One 9 MM ball Amn
3) 60 metres Safety fuse
4) 57 Gelatine stick
5)111 Improvised grenade
6) Two No-36 Hand grenade
7) Five Electric Detonator
8) 233 Tubular battery iron
9) 350 metre Cordtex wire
10) One Lathe Machine & welding Machine (Dilapidated condition)
11) One Vernier caliper & Divider Caliper
“This successful operation is a testament to the BSF’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and security in the highly Naxal-affected district of Malkangiri in South Odisha. The diligent efforts of the BSF troops have not only thwarted potential threats but have also dealt a severe blow to the Maoists’ infrastructure,” police said in the statement.
Further combing and search operations would continue to make the area safe for Security Forces as well as the local residents.
Earlier, the area used to be highly influenced by the Maoists and their sympathizers. The Maoist outfits would keep IEDs, Arms & IED making materials at isolated places to be used against the SFs/Police operating in these areas.
The BSF is determined to continue its efforts in collaboration with other security agencies to neutralize Maoist activities. The jawans are actively operating in Malkangiri district and extensively dominating the area.
